Alton L. Phillips is a successful entrepreneur, author, and family man. As an acclaimed business man, with over 17 years of experience, Alton has impacted and touched the lives of men through conversations from behind the lens of the clippers as a barber. Notwithstanding his business accolades, some of his greatest personal accomplishments include raising his daughter and niece. With family being an important pillar in Alton’s own life, he knows the importance of the family infrastructure and hopes to leave that imprint on the lives of all he comes into contact with. While Alton has considered his role as a barber, mentor, father, and uncle all to be an honor, these life experiences have ignited a bigger vision within him. One where Alton's impact goes beyond the clippers and is channeled into life lessons and beyond for fatherless young men.That fire birthed the InstruMENtal Foundation.Alton has pioneered and been the visionary for numerous community events and initiatives since moving to Dallas/Fort Worth area over 12 years ago. Alton’s heart is to “Change the World Around” through the InstruMENtal Foundation, one young man at a time.

The InstruMENtal Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to equipping young men 12-17 with the proper tools for life, on their journey to manhood. We are dedicated to producing real change within the lives and community of young men. Statistically, at least 35% of young men grow up without a father in the home. The InstruMENtal Foundation is committed to helping this audience through various programs such as: one-on-one training, virtual and in person group mentorship sessions, community service events, and implementing various community partnerships with local middle and highschool programs. Ultimately, the vision of The InstruMENtal Foundation will be to provide employment opportunities to help establish work ethic within this targeted demographic.

Our mission is to provide young men with a blueprint to navigate life through cultivating environments, spaces and moments where young men can learn social, academic, and life skills. Through mentoring, coaching and community service, we strive to provide consistent and systematic care that will equip them for success.
